Let’s make a shape city! The felt board is a really great way for kids to play and explore many things! You can do so much with a felt board! We love ours and the kids get so much use out of it. Currently my toddlers are learning about shapes so, to go along with all of our fun shape themed activities, I made the these easy shape city felt sets for them to play with.

Felt Board Shape City with Houses & Cars
Even if you aren’t super crafty (like me!) these felt board shape sets are so easy to make! If you can cut basic shapes then you can make these. If you have older kids, like preschoolers and up, you could easily have them help you by having them draw or cut out the shapes.
Materials:
- Different colors of felt
- Scissors
- Felt board
You may already have all these supplies in your art closet so gather them up. What I really like about felt boards and felt play sets is that they are very affordable materials. Felt can be purchased at any big box store in large packs for under $5.
Felt Shape Play Set Instructions
Again, this shape city is just made from basic shapes. As you can see in the photo you should cut out several different shapes that the kids can turn into a house or vehicles. Currently, our favorite ones are the house, tree, bus, and trucks. Check out the images below to decide what shapes and sizes to cut out. It’s pretty self-explanatory once you see them. If you have questions don’t hesitate to ask in the comments! I’m happy to help!
All my kids are in love with this! My daughter has never been much into the felt boards but this transportation-themed one is right up her alley and she loves to play with it. The kids spend about 20-30 minutes at a time setting up their “schoolhouse” (shape house) and “driving the bus to school” or “driving” the tuck around town. It’s pretty cute.
I made my own template for everything but the car. If you want you are welcome to download the printable template I created (download PDF here) or make your own! Below is what the car outline looks like. In my cut-out one, I just rounded out the edges a bit more and squared up the bumper more because it was easier for me in the limited time I had to get this cut out.
