Pipsie, Nature Dectective: The Lunchnapper
A nature hunt…and a missing lunch! Pipsie and her turtle friend, Alfred, are on the best school trip ever—a nature scavenger hunt! The team who finds “Seven Wonders of Nature” first wins. But that isn’t all Pipsie and Alfred have to find. Someone has stolen their PB&Js! The search is on for the lunch that left, and soon Pipsie and Alfred are following animal tracks and discovering deer, birds, and even some beavers. Can Pipsie make this mystery history and finish the scavenger hunt? And hopefully before lunchtime, because Alfred is one hungry turtle!
The story follows Pipsie and her sidekick, Alfred, as they head off on a school field trip. They have a scavenger hunt from the park ranger that they need to complete and suddenly a there’s also mystery to solve when their lunch goes missing! My husband is a park ranger so my daughter was super excited to see the ranger hand out the scavenger hunt to Pipsie and her class. She wanted to do it with them and was interested to see if Pipsie and Alfred could find everything!
“Look, Mom! Pipsie found a pileated woodpecker!”
We love the illustrations in this book. They’re bold and whimsical. My daughter enjoys just thumbing through the pages and looking at the pictures by herself. The images are detailed and keep the kids engaged in the story.
My preschoolers really enjoy the pictures and the story. The text is easy to follow and presents the information in way that kids can easily understand. It’s a great book to teach kids about animals and forest life. It’s packed with a lot of learning but it all flows easily within the story. It doesn’t feel like an educational book, it’s fun and engaging, but there is much for kids to learn throughout the book.
The girls think that Alfred Z. Turtle, Pipsie’s sidekick, is so funny and silly. They all want a turtle now!
Another great thing about this book is the “fun facts” at the end of the book. There are facts about the animals in the story and even a guide to woodland animal tracks! Perfect for that little nature detective in your life to study and learn from.
I highly recommend you get a copy of this book! Pipsie and Alfred are so entertaining and lovable that your kids will want to read it over and over!
The book is available in hardcover and for your Kindle!
