Every fall I tell myself I’m going to use my sewing machine to make something festive but I just never get around to it. This year I finally decided that rather than letting the fabric just collect dust I should actually do something with it. As a result I turned some of it into this fun fall craft for my toddlers! The rest of these scraps got turned into our simple fall sensory box for infants!
Pumpkin Collages with Fall Fabrics for Toddlers
My kids especially loved this because they got to use the glue. I’ve found toddlers love to squeeze glue all over and this is the perfect craft for them to do that on.
Materials:
- Fall Fabrics
- Construction paper
- Glue
If you have older kids (preschoolers and up) you can do some scissor practice by having them first cut the fabric. For my toddlers the fabric was a bit to tough to cut through so I cut the fabric into pieces and put it in a tray in the middle of the table.
Each child got a pumpkin shape cut from construction paper and some glue. They got to apply the glue and then pick out their fabric pieces.
They got right to it and were busy creating. Squeezing glue bottles and picking out/pulling apart the fabric scraps are all great fine motor exercises for toddlers too.
I have one toddler that struggled with the glue so we did it together & then she placed her fabric as she saw fit.
The fabric also adds a bit of texture exploration to this craft.
What fall crafts are you doing this time of year?

The fabric would add such a fun texture to the craft. 🙂
