OREO cookie balls! I know that got your attention!
Are you a holiday baker? I try to make fun treats that I can take to family gatherings but I’m most definitely not a baker and my skills in the kitchen are lacking. Usually, I end up frustrated and buying cookies last minute. But not anymore! That has all changed! These easy OREO Cookie Balls are a huge hit at family gatherings and they are so easy to make that even my preschoolers can help me make them.
We even got festive and turned our OREO Cookie Balls into cute little acorn treats!
Acorn OREO Cookie Balls Recipe
These are so easy to make! I made them with my preschoolers and we had so much fun!
Ingredients for OREO Cookie Balls:
- 1 pkg. (8 oz.) Kraft Philadelphia cream cheese, softened
- 36 OREO Cookies, finely crushed (about 3 cups)
- 4 pkg. (4 oz. each) semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted
Make it!
- MIX cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
- SHAPE into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place in a single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan.
- CUSTOMIZE it with your own ingredient additions or decorative skills.
- REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm.
OPTIONAL Ingredients for Acorn OREO Cookie Balls:
- Pretzel Sticks
- Chocolate sprinkles
For our acorn OREO cookie balls we used Peanut Butter OREO Cookies with Cinnamon & Brown Sugar flavored cream cheese. We also added a pretzel stick and chocolate sprinkles to create our acorn caps.
You can pick all your supplies up at your local Walmart. We found these peanut butter OREO cookies in the cookie section with the other OREO cookies.
The combination of the brown sugar and cinnamon flavored cream cheese with the peanut butter OREO cookies added a little something extra to the taste of these treats. They are so good!
We shaped ours into ovals before putting them into the freezer. This gives them an acorn shape when coated with chocolate.
I stuck a fork in the back of our OREO cookie balls when we pulled them out of the freeze. We then dipped them into our melted chocolate. Next, add sprinkles and a piece of a pretzel stick to the top for a perfect acorn cap!
They’ll fit perfectly on your Thanksgiving table! We’ll be serving these up for both our Thanksgiving meal with family and for my daycare party! Plus they are easy to pack up and transport so we’ll give some out to the daycare parents and neighbors too!
We can’t wait to make more of these! I am not a kitchen guru, unless you count my ability to burn anything, but these are deceptively easy. You can totally wow your family and friends with them this holiday season! My preschoolers really enjoyed being able to be part of the process!
Yum! Ours were gone in record time! They were so tasty and the hit of our Thanksgiving feast!
