Are you interested in yoga for kids? What are mornings like in your house? How we start the day in our house tends to set the theme for our days. Which means when my daughter starts the day a bit grumpy we usually have one of those tough days.
Recently though our mornings have been much easier! We’ve been starting each morning with a new children’s book about yoga for kids. It’s a pose-by-pose story that helps children start the day on the right foot.
Good Morning Yoga Book Review
I love reading this book with my daughter in the mornings. It’s a great way to get her moving and ready for the days in a calming and fun way. The book uses an engaging story that promotes relaxation and breathing with colorful illustrations that guide children through each of the poses. It makes yoga for kids easy and fun!
Good Morning Yoga by Mariam Gates, Illustrated by Sarah Jane Hinder
This “wake up” story is so much more than a story. It’s a practice for kids and parents to greet the morning with joy and embark on their daily adventures with intention and confidence. Turn the page and reach up to the sky, press your feet into the earth, and get ready for a great day!
I highly recommend this book for kids that struggle with big emotions in the morning or have a hard time getting up and moving. It’s a fun way to get them out of bed and start the day in relaxed way. You don’t have to do it everyday but think about the days of the week that are harder, maybe spending a few extra minutes in the morning with this book will help your day run smoother.
I love how colorful and vivid the the illustrations in the book are. Each page is filled with bold and brightly colored images of kids having fun with yoga. There are descriptive images that show how each move is done in a creative way your kids will enjoy. The illustrations jump out at you and hold the attention of children through the whole book.
Mornings can be hectic and rushed in our house so starting the day with this book is the perfect way to get everyone calm and relaxed before heading off for the days activities.
I caught this one using the book by herself while I was getting lunch together. The images in the book are clear and easy for children to understand. This three year old just opened it up and used the images to figure out each pose and do it on her own.
There is also an activity kit you can download to go along with this book. It includes printable wrist bands, a coloring activity, and a set of yoga cards you can print and play with! Plus there is all the information you need, including tips and flyers, to help you set up your own Yoga Hour with friends!

The activity kit is a great way to expand on the lessons in this book. Calming activities to do together with your child(ren). My kids love the Yoga position cards! We’ve been using them during group time all week.
I highly recommend this book. Our days are so much calmer and happier when we make time in the morning to do this together. I also like that it gives my daughter and I time together in the morning, a special time in our sometimes hectic days.

What I like about Goodnight Yoga is that is tailored for children to try different things and not worry about the stresses of the world. At the end of the day you want to have a goodnight because it affects the rest of your day. This book is like an energy booster.

of yoga for relaxation. this is a great idea as many exercises are more “awakening” to kids and they always want to talk like crazy at bedtime.
Kimberly Bauer says
I love that both books give children instruction on how to do yoga. I practice yoga and my daughter has taken an interest bot I’m not sure what types of poses are safe for young children and I don’t have anywhere to take her for kids yoga classes.
Cami v says
I like that it is meant to self sooth and shut down. Helps focus and simple poses for kids to do.

HI! We love these books! We couldn’t get the printables as they directed us to another site (Scribd) that required you to sign up or share content in order to download. Any other way around that? Thanks!
