Light Table Princess Crown Math Game (or Prince!)
My preschooler is getting more and more interested math games and activities. For the longest time in the group of daycare kids she was least likely to be interested in number and counting activities but recently that has started to change. This activity was my way of connecting her obsession with all things princess and fairy tales with her new interest in simple math activities.
Materials:
- Crown Printable
- Light Table
- Dice (or make these DIY light table dice from And Next Comes L)
- Jewel Beads (ours are from Michaels)
I printed and laminated this simple crown printable and set it out on the light table with some dice and jewels.
At first, we did some simple counting with these. The girls would roll one dice, count the dots, and then add that many jewels to their crowns.
When the kid were familiar with the logistics of the game we added a second dice and turned into a beginning math game. They would roll both dice and then add them together. It’s a fun and simple way to introduce basic addition to your preschooler.

After a bit of playing my daughter got out our number blocks and would find the number block that matched whatever numbers she rolled.
My princess lover thought it was so cool to get to decorate her princess crown and I was impressed with how long it kept each of the kids engaged!
