Kiely knows she is famous! The paparazzi (her parents) follow her every move, documenting with cameras. It’s exhausting being famous, but someone has to do it! She even gets to perform a big song at her grandfather’s birthday. When she messes it up, she’s worried she’s lost her audience forever, but it turns out that no one is as loyal as her fans who love her.
Book Review: I Am Famous by Tara Luebbe and Becky Cattie
I love little Kiely! She’s so full of style and personality!
She’s the center of her family’s world and to her that means that she is famous. She loves being the star and fits that role perfectly. She loves to dance, sing, and put on shows for her many fans. Kiely lives the life of a celebrity, with cooks and stylists that you and your children can relate too!
The illustrations are really well done. The images totally bring the story to life and give Kiely the level of stardom she deserves. My daughter and her friends love reading it and examining the pictures on each page.
As a parent this story totally got me thinking about the world we live in. We can totally be just like the paparazzi some times with our kids! We do always have cameras out, documenting and sharing everything. My kids could relate to Kiely being annoyed by her ‘paparazzi’ squad always wanting to take her picture and get her to smile. Now all my kids think that they are superstars. Plus they all want to be like Kiely!
While the story touches on fame and Kiely’s stardom, the story is about more than just that. It’s really a story about family, not giving up, and being who you are.
I love that even when things don’t go as planned little Kiely still gets support from her family and realizes that is the best part about being her. It shows kids that even if you mess up your family and friends will still be there to cheer you on. Taking risks and trying new things isn’t as scary if you know you have family and friends on your side.
