Today we are excited to share these simple light table nature collages with you!
Our Light & Reflections Series, a collection of fun kids activities that incorporate light and/or mirror play, theme is “Nature & Animals” today so we got out our light table loose parts and created some scenes from nature! I liked using loose parts for these nature collages because it give the kids the freedom to create in an open-ended way.
Light Table Nature Collages with Loose Parts
Loose parts activities allow the kids to create and explore on their terms. There is no right or wrong, just free expression of how they see and interpret the world around them in their play.
Material we used:
- Acrylic Leaves (Michael’s Craft Store)
- Glass Gems (Dollar Tree)
- Acrylic Flowers (Dollar Tree)
- Light Table
We started this activity with a walk outside. We talked about the flowers and the trees that we saw and when we arrived back home I got out the loose parts and off my daughter went creating her nature collages!
She really focused on creating lots of different flowers and trees.
She even created a pile of stumps to represent the pile we have sitting on the side of our house from a recent tree that had to be removed.
Every time she created something new she got so excited and wanted me to take a picture of it.
I think she had a great time! Loose parts are great on the light table and some of our favorite ways to play on it!
What are your favorite items to play on the light table with?
