We’ve been doing a lot of simple preschool math games lately. This preschool math with blocks is so easy, you will love it!
To build on our counting and sorting skills we used our all-natural KORXX blocks to play this fun more or less preschool math game. It’s a simple hands-on way for kids to learn early math skills with eco-friendly blocks.
Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve been busy playing and learning with this awesome set of blocks called KORXX. These blocks are eco-friendly and made from natural cork! Not only that but the cork is harvested without harming the trees. The high-quality cork is free of any harmful contaminants and provides excellent stability that allows the kids to build structures that traditional wooden blocks can’t do.
Are you ready to do some simple preschool math with blocks? It’s simple to set up and the kids had a great time! Check below for our free game sheet printable! In addition to learning basic math skills, your kids also have to practice social skills such as listening, taking turns, waiting patiently, and winning or losing graciously.
More or Less? Preschool Math with Blocks
Materials:
- KORXX Blocks & included storage bag
- Index cards with numbers written on them
- Game Sheet (see below for free printable)
We filled the bag that came with our KORXX blocks with our DIY number cards (index cards with numbers 1-10 written on them) and gathered all our blocks together in a pile. Each child got a turn to grab a number card from the bag.
After they selected a number from the bag they had to practice counting by collecting the correct amount of blocks for the number they pulled.
We did three rounds for each game (get our printable below) and each time we played a game the kids arranged their blocks differently. They lined them up, stacked them, and made piles based on whatever number they had.
After their blocks were all counted out the kids worked together to determine who had more and who had less. Then we recorded it on our game sheet. Whoever had more got to place an “X” on their More or Less Game Sheet (<— free download!)!
Fun right?! Plus it’s a great quiet time activity to keep those non-nappers or early risers engaged while younger siblings or other kids sleep because the KORXX blocks are soft and lightweight. The kids can stack them or knock them together as they organize them by number but they don’t make noise!
My youngest child didn’t quite understand the mechanics of the game but she gladly did some simple one-to-one correspondence activities with our other set of natural colored cork blocks.
I expected blocks made from cork to be brittle or even crumble but they weren’t at all and unlike typical cork used for other products KORXX adheres to the guidelines for children’s toys (under 3 years) which makes them safe for even infants and toddlers.

These look great. I like that they are lighter than wooden blocks. My son has managed to drop the wood blocks on his feet a few times.

I think these are a great idea. I have had a couple blocks thrown at my walls, so these are ideal.

I like that these are different than any other blocks my kids have. The weight, texture, and sound would be different to them and interesting.

I really like these blocks. I love that they are softer than normal blocks. Every mama knows all too well of those hard blocks and how the kids like to throw them around.

I like that they are lightweight. My boys would throw blocks at each other — these wouldn’t hurt as bad.
