Do you have train lovers at home? Or kids who love to paint without bushes? If so this printmaking art project is for them!
Printmaking for Kids Using Recycled Cardboard!
It’s an easy art project for kids that uses materials we normally would have just tossed into our recycle bin and forgot about. Plus it gives the kids a chance to paint with something other than brushes, letting them explore texture and different sensory experiences than they get when painting with brushes. We’ve also painted with cotton balls and beads!
This is one of those simple kids activities where all you need is some paper, paint, and a piece of cardboard. Our cardboard was packaging from a recent IKEA shopping trip (Yay!) but any piece of cardboard you have laying around would work great.
The kids picked out what colors they wanted and off the went stamping with the cardboard onto their papers. At first they imagined that they were “building ladders” so they could “climb to a big slide” but after examining them in between prints they decided that they were in fact making train tracks.
When they dried the girls grabbed some trains and off they went playing trains on their artwork!
Besides brushes what have you painted with lately?

I love this idea! And it does make great train tracks, doesn’t it? 🙂

Oooh! Looks great. Once we are done with moving, we’re going to have so many boxes/cardboard leftover, I’ll have to try this out with some scraps. Or maybe just put my son in a box and let him paint that way haha. That’s a great idea though! I love repurposing/recycling things we have around the house, especially for toddler activities.

It’s fabulous when kids can make art out of junk. And even better that it has a play purpose as well. Thank you for linking up to Mom’s Library, I’ll be featuring you this week at Crystal’s Tiny Treasures.
