Here are some fun and simple Valentine’s Day songs, rhymes, and poems for kids. These simple songs and rhymes are perfect for toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners. Easy to learn but super fun!
We love to sing songs and learn fun rhymes in my home daycare! For every holiday my kids are eager for new songs, rhymes, and poems. We have some standard ones we sing all year long, but it’s nice to add some variety throughout the year with seasonal ones.
These are our favorite Valentine’s Day-themed ones!
Valentine’s Day Songs, Poems, and Rhymes for Kids
“Red Hearts, White Hearts” Poem By Nellie Edge
Red hearts, white hearts,
Pink hearts, too.
I like purple hearts.
How about you?
Green hearts, yellow hearts,
Blue hearts, too.
I like rainbow hearts.
How about you?
Five Little Valentine’s Rhyme
Five little valentines were having a race
The first little valentine was frilly with lace.
The second little valentine had a funny face.
The third little valentine said, “I love you”.
The fourth little valentine said, “I do too”.
The fifth little valentine was sly as a fox.
He ran the fastest to the valentine box.
Valentine’s Day Poem by Joanna Fuchs
I hope your Valentine’s Day is great.
I hope it’s quite a treat.
I hope you have a happy day
Filled with things so sweet.
This poem’s for you because I care.
I can’t get more specific.
Well, yes I can, and here I go…
I think you’re terrific!
Rose are Red Rhyme
Roses are Red,
Violets are Blue,
Sugar is sweet,
and so are you!
I’m a Valentine For You (Tune: “She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain”)
I’m a teeny tiny Valentine for you, (Quiet/whisper voice)
I’m a teeny tiny Valentine for you,
I’m a teeny tiny Valentine,
I’m always yours, will you be mine?
I’m a teeny tiny Valentine for you.
I’m a medium-sized Valentine for you, (Medium voice)
I’m a medium-sized Valentine for you,
I’m a medium-sized Valentine,
I’m not too big and that’s just fine
I’m a medium-sized Valentine for you.
I’m a great big Valentine for you. (Loud voice)
I’m a great big Valentine for you.
I’m a great big Valentine,
And I will love you all the time.
I’m a great big Valentine for you.
Be My Valentine (Tune: “Mary Had A Little Lamb”)
You’re a special
Friend of mine,
Friend of mine.
Friend of mine.
You’re a special
Friend of mine!
Be my Valentine!
I Like Hearts (Tune: “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star“)
Red hearts, white hearts,
Pink hearts, too.
I like purple hearts.
How about you?
Green hearts, yellow hearts,
Blue hearts, too.
I like rainbow hearts.
How about you?
Will You Be My Valentine (Tune: “London Bridge”)
Will you be my Valentine,
Valentine, Valentine?
Will you be my Valentine,
Ooh, friend of mine.
I’m A Little Valentine (Tune: “I’m a Little Teapot”)
I’m a little Valentine
Red and White
With ribbons and lace
I’m a beautiful sight
I can say, “I Love You”
On Valentine’s Day
Just put me in an envelope
And give me away
Love Is a Circle (Tune: “I’m a Little Teapot”)
Love is a circle,
Round and round.
Love goes up,
And love comes down.
Love is on the inside,
Trying to get out
Love is whirling and twirling about!
Three Red Valentines (Tune: “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”)
Three red Valentines,
Each one with a bow.
Pretty and shinny and lacy, too.
Standing in a row.
Here is a Valentine! (Tune: “You Are My Sunshine”)
Here is a valentine, a great big valentine.
I made it special, just for you.
It’s red and lacy
With hugs and kisses
Just for you ’cause you are my friend!
H-E-A-R-T (Tune: “B-I-N-G-O”)
There is a shape;
it stands for love,
And “heart” is its name, oh.
H-E-A-R-T
H-E-A-R-T
H-E-A-R-T
And “heart” is its name.
Red Little Valentine’s (Tune: “Ten Little Indians”)
One red, two red, three red Valentines
Four red, five red, six red Valentines
Seven red, eight red, nine red Valentines
Ten red Valentines.
Ten red, nine red, eight red Valentines
Seven red, six red, five red Valentines
Four red, three red, two red Valentines
One red Valentine.
Below is one of my favorite ones to sing with kids this time of year! Usually, I just do the first round of it with the kids but sometimes we sing the whole song (see YouTube video below):
Skinnamarink by Sharon, Lois, and Bram
Skinnamarinky dinky dink,
Skinnamarinky do,
I love you.
Skinnamarinky dinky dink,
Skinnamarinky do,
I love you.
I love you in the morning
And in the afternoon.
I love you in the evening
and underneath the moon!
Skinnamarinky dinky dink,
Skinnamarinky do,
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
