Are you looking for some fun Christmas light table activities this holiday season? Well you’re in luck because our Light & Reflections series is back with some fun light play activities for winter & Christmas! We focused on Christmas activities on the light table and did some Christmas Tree decorating with loose parts! These DIY light table Christmas trees are really simple and easy to make and they were so much fun!
Christmas Light Table Play: Decorating Trees
This post contains affiliate links for your convenience. This is just so easy to throw together! I literally made this in under five minutes from colored plastic dividers that I got at a local big box store. Quick to setup but provided hours of play. We’ve used this activity for 3 years now, every Christmas I bring it out and my kids love it.
Light table Christmas tree decorating items:
- Colored Plastic Dividers
- Scissors
- Colored/frosted Gems of your choice
- Any translucent loose parts materials for decoration
I used a dry erase marker to draw the tree shape onto the plastic divider so I could wipe it off after I cut the tree out. I also cut strips from the red plastic dividers to use as garland or lights.
For the decorations I rummaged though our loose parts basket and found these two different kinds colored of gems that and the little star jewelry links (from the Dollar Tree). I also added small jingle bells but they aren’t in any of the pictures. The kids really liked the addition of the jingle bells to their Christmas light table decorating.
This is a great quiet time Christmas light table activity too! The girls were very focused on their trees and played with it off and on all day but I really like to bring it out during nap for my early risers or non-nappers. My preschoolers can use it independently and play quietly while others are napping.
I just set out a few small containers, one for each set of items, and the tree template on the light table. My kiddos then create and decorate their trees as the inspiration strikes.
Super fun and easy! Try this Christmas light table activity today!
