Let’s make a simple tissue paper mummy craft! I have to say I LOVE Halloween! It’s one of my favorite holidays. I like all the spooky and fall decorations! Maybe it’s just because I love everything fall!
This tissue paper mummy craft project is very simple and allows children to work with glue sticks and tissue paper, which is always so much fun for my kids. We started this project during circle time when we read this book about a skeleton and his mummy.
Tissue Paper Mummy Craft
Materials needed:
- Tissue Paper
- Constuction Paper
- Glue
- Googly Eyes
This tissue paper mummy craft is s easy. Just a few simple things and then you are off and creating.
To start I simply cut one body shape (similar to this one below, I just did a Google image search) out for each child on black paper.
Before I gave the templates to the kids I had them rip up tissue paper into strips and chunks to be our mummy’s bandages and put them in a bowl for everyone to share. I did have one daycare kid that decided he didn’t want the white ones, his mummy was “going to be dirty from playing in the mud” so he tore his own strips out of brown, I’m actually surprised no one else followed suit and made a “dirty mummy” but the rest went with white like the mummy in the story.
Once the tissue paper was ripped, I gave everyone the body shape cut out and a glue stick and let them go to town. Older kids could easily cut out their own body template but my group or toddlers haven’t mastered scissor skills yet.
When they were done covering the body with tissue paper they then glued googly eyes on their mummy’s. That’s it! They are ready to be hung up and displayed.
I wish I had gotten more photos of the finished products but it was one of those days where my camera was MIA.
