With fall fast approaching and the recent change in our weather we’ve started focusing on more fall themes. After a fun trip to our local library we ended up with a stack of books about fall and apples!
These four quickly became MB’s favorite apple books:
After reading these [numerous times] I decided to incorporate apples and apple pie into our activities starting with apple pie play dough! Play dough is one of MB’s ultimate favorite activities so I knew she would really enjoy it!
-1 cup flour
-¼ cup salt
-½ Tbsp. vegetable oil
-1 cup water
-1 tsp. cream of tartar
-½ tsp. nutmeg
-½ tsp allspice
-1 tsp. cinnamon
-Red food coloring
(or you can use apple pie seasoning which contains all of the above spices)
-In a large pot, combine all dry ingredients and mix well.
-Add in vegetable oil, food coloring, and water, stir.
-Cook over medium heat until the dough pulls away from pot and starts to become dry.
-Remove from heat, let cool, and knead. (If dough feels too sticky, knead in a Tbsp of flour)
Smells sooooooooo good!!!!
